Lyon forward Nabil Fekir has been ruled out for up to six months after he injured his right knee during France's 1-0 friendly victory against Portugal on Friday.
The 22-year-old lasted just 14 minutes at Sporting's Jose Alvalade Stadium before he was replaced by Antoine Greizmann and scans have now revealed the youngster has ruptured his cruciate ligaments.
Fekir, who attracted interest from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger last season, has been in impressive form for his club side so far in 2015-16, scoring four goals in four matches in Ligue 1.
Strike partner Alexandre Lacazette, who has just returned from injury himself, took to social media to show support for his team-mate after the announcement was made.
"A big thought to my brother," he posted on Twitter. "You'll comeback stronger"
