Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has said striker Wayne Rooney is not getting his due credit since the arrival of Robin Van Persie , and added that the England international is ready to fight for his spot in the playing eleven.
Amid all the plaudits for Van Persie, who has scored seven goals in as many matches for United since the start of the season, Evra believes that some has forgot Rooney's importance to the club.
"People criticise really easily. When Robin arrived he scored four goals in his first two starts and was unbelievable," the Daily Express quoted Evra, as saying.
"The way people were talking, I thought we had only one striker. But you should not forget Wayne and all he has done for this club," he added.
"Wayne is showing he is prepared to fight. We have a lot of strikers, and e everyone wants to show they can play with Robin or replace him. The star is the team, not one player. I'm sure we can play both Wayne and Robin - but I'm not the boss," he said. (ANI)
