The chairman of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), Hani Abou-Rida, has denied reports that he and his board intend to resign, insisting that the current board members will continue in their posts.

"I never run away from responsibilities. I will always face challenges. The general assembly's trust in me makes it impossible to let them down," said Abou-Rida on the association's official website ahead of Monday's meeting.

Abou-Rida has also denied rumors of a decision to split the teams into two groups in the next Premier League season. The idea had circulated in the wake of FIFA's demands to end the season early ahead of the 2018 World Cup finals.

"There are solutions for scheduling. The upcoming season is one group. This is the final word and this is the best thing for the Egyptian football," he concluded.
