Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the move again. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has sparked widespread speculation about his future after posting a cryptic message on social media that read: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

The message comes at a time when reports suggest the Portuguese icon is leaning toward leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, despite having scored 25 goals in 30 league matches and registering 99 goals in 111 appearances since his arrival in 2023.

Crystal Palace owner makes Ronaldo an unexpected offer

According to multiple reports, including from journalist Jorge Nicola, John Textor, the owner of Crystal Palace, Botafogo, and other clubs under the Eagle Football Holdings umbrella, has made a unique offer to Ronaldo.

The proposal? Not just a short-term playing contract at Botafogo, but a percentage stake in Textor’s football holdings, giving Ronaldo a long-term role within the club structure.

Nicola revealed: “Ronaldo has an important proposal in hand. It’s not about matching his wages in Saudi Arabia, but offering a share of ownership within Textor’s network of clubs.”

Club World Cup angle: Brazil or bust?

The timing is no coincidence. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to be held in the United States, is a prime opportunity for top clubs—and Botafogo want Ronaldo to lead them into the tournament.

Although Botafogo coach Renato Paiva played down the rumours, he didn’t completely dismiss them, saying: “If he came, you can’t say no to a star like that. Even at his age, Ronaldo is still a goal machine.”

Al-Nassr extension still on the table..but for how long?

Despite the growing speculation, Al-Nassr have not given up. Reports suggest the Saudi club have offered Ronaldo a contract extension reportedly worth €16.5 million per month (roughly £88 million in total). But no final decision has been made.

With interest from Brazil, Europe, and even MLS, Ronaldo’s next step could reshape the final chapter of one of football’s greatest careers.
