The FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016 crowned a new champion on Sunday with China Kashgar winning the title at the expense of Lebanon’s Al Riyadi, 96-88. Petrochimi of Iran also finished in third place.
Import Andray Blatche led China Kashgar with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists 1 block. He was supported by fellow import Darius Adams, who scored 19 points. Dewarwick Spencer, who was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, paced Al Riyadi with 19 points of his own.
The Iranian outfit came third after defeating Al Ahli of the UAE 100-74.
Foreign reinforcement James White put up a nice double-double line to lead the way for Petrochimi, which bounced back from a loss in the semi-final to host China Kashgar.
The 24th edition was held in 2013 in Amman, Jordan, where Iranian club Foolad Mahan Isfahan emerged victorious.
The Fiba Asia Champions Cup that started way back in 1981 was a yearly event since 1990 before being stopped in 2013. After a two-year break the club-level championship returns to Fiba's regular competition format.
