Cardiff's Millenium Stadium will host the 2017 Champions League final as the showcase match comes to Wales for the first time, the European ruling body UEFA said Tuesday.
UEFA said that the 74,500-seat arena opened in 1999 was picked the previous day at an executive committee meeting.
The Millenium Stadium hosted the 2014 European Super Cup between Real Madrid and Sevilla and the FA Cup final was also played there between 2001 and 2006 during the reconstruction of Wembley. It is a regular home venue for the Wales football and rugby teams.
The 2016 Champions League final is in Milan.
UEFA also awarded the 2017 Europa League final to Solna, Sweden, and the European Super Cup match that year to Macedonia's Skopje.
