Paris Saint-Germain have officially booked their spot in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 after a dominant performance against Brest.
The Parisian giants delivered a resounding 10-0 aggregate victory over their French counterparts, with the second leg at the Parc des Princes ending in a commanding 7-0 win, reaffirming their superiority in the tie.
Enrique Hints at His Preference Between Barcelona and Liverpool
Following PSG’s emphatic qualification, head coach Luis Enrique was asked about the prospect of facing either Barcelona or Liverpool in the next round. While the Spanish tactician remained diplomatic, he did admit to having a preference.
Speaking to Diario AS, Enrique said: "Barcelona or Liverpool in the Round of 16? We are ready for both options. I have my preference, but I won’t reveal it."
Would Barcelona Be Enrique’s Toughest Challenge?
This is not the first time Enrique has addressed this question. Before PSG’s clash with Brest, he had subtly hinted that he would rather avoid facing Barcelona, a club with which he shares a long and storied history.
However, Enrique’s managerial record against Barcelona has not been favorable. In his last four encounters with the Catalan side, he has managed only one victory, suffering three defeats. That said, his most recent clash with Barça saw PSG claim a 4-1 triumph over Xavi’s side last season.
A potential showdown with Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, though, could be a completely different challenge. The German coach has already begun reshaping the Blaugrana, and they would undoubtedly relish the chance to avenge past defeats against PSG.
