Manchester United manager Michael Carrick praised the performances of Benjamin Sesko and Kobbie Mainoo after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Sesko Delivers a Last Minute Winner

In the match, United lost a two-goal lead in the closing minutes. However, Sesko stepped up in injury time and scored the winning goal. Carrick called it a significant moment for the young striker.

“An incredible moment,” Carrick said. “Everyone in the changing room was thrilled for him. The reception he got back there said it all. It wasn’t just confidence; it was reward for his hard work.”

Hard Work Paying Off

Carrick noted Sesko’s progress in training and the extra effort he has put in with coaches, especially Travis Binnion, who has spent one-on-one time with him.

“Ben is a huge talent with so many positives,” Carrick added. “As a striker, scoring a winner at the Stretford End in the dying minutes is every player’s dream. He missed a chance earlier, but he kept going and made it count. He absolutely deserved it.”

Mainoo Shines in Midfield

Carrick was also impressed by the performance of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, who played an important role both with and without the ball.

“His performance today was very strong,” Carrick said. “Fulham overloaded the middle at times, and there was a lot for him and Casemiro to do defensively. Off the ball, he was excellent. On the ball, he stays composed, plays his game, and delivers quality when it matters.”

Carrick emphasized Mainoo’s calmness despite his young age. “It’s easy to forget how young he is. Seeing him play with this level of confidence and belief is a real joy. He has a lot more to come, but performances like this show exactly why we rate him so highly.”
