Real Madrid endured another frustrating night in La Liga as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Osasuna at El Sadar. The result extended their winless streak to three league matches, allowing Atletico Madrid and Barcelona to close the gap in the title race.

However, the biggest talking point of the match was not the result, but rather the controversial red card shown to Jude Bellingham in the 40th minute after he protested a corner kick decision.

Two-Match Suspension?

According to Mundo Deportivo, Bellingham could face a two-match suspension based on referee Munuera Montero’s official report. The report states that Bellingham was dismissed for allegedly directing offensive language towards the referee.

Under Article 124 of the Disciplinary Code, which covers "disrespect towards referees," the midfielder could be suspended for two La Liga matches, ruling him out of crucial fixtures against Girona and Real Betis. However, the potential suspension would not affect his availability for the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad.

Can Real Madrid Overturn the Ban?

Real Madrid are expected to appeal the decision, potentially using video footage to argue that Bellingham did not intend to insult the referee.

However, the club faces a challenge due to Article 27 of the Disciplinary Code, which states that referees' decisions are final unless there is clear material error—making it difficult to overturn the ruling.

With the Disciplinary Committee set to announce its final verdict on Wednesday, Real Madrid will be hoping to reduce or overturn the suspension to keep Bellingham available for their upcoming key fixtures.
