Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and crosstown rivals 1860 Munich reacted shocked to Friday's deadly shooting spree in the Bavarian capital and expressed their condolences to those affected.
"Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with all those affected by the tragic events in Munich. Stay safe!" Bayern tweeted early Saturday.
New Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti said on the same social network: "Very sad... incomprehensible... my solidarity for the victims and families."
"No words," second-division club 1860 Munich said on Instagram, while their Jordanian investor Hasan Ismaik said on Facebook: "I am shocked and stunned by the terrible news from Munich. I wish you a lot of strength in these difficult hours."
Ten people have been confirmed dead in the attack at a fastfood restaurant and a shopping centre near Munich's Olympic Park on Friday; including the suspected shooter identified as an 18-year-old German-Iranian man whose motive remains unclear.
The shooting triggered a series of evacuations and a widespread state of panic across the southern German city.
