Qatar’s Mutaz Essa Barshim, the high jump star, has been nominated for the World Athlete of the Year by the International Association for Athletics Federations (IAAF).
Barshim, a world champion and Olympic medalist, is one of the 10 men nominated for the prestigious prize by the world body.
Last month, Barshim won the world title in London. In August 2016, he won the silver at the Rio Olympic Games.
In 2014, Barshim grabbed the gold at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland.
This week marks the opening of the voting process for the 2017 World Athletes of the Year ahead of the IAAF Athletics Awards 2017 in Monaco on November 24th.
The list of 10 men and 10 women nominees were selected by an international panel.
