Barcelona will travel to Qatar for a friendly match on February 4, against an as-yet undecided opponent.
The 2013-14 Liga runners-up, who currently lie second in the domestic standings, will play the match to fulfil contractual obligations to Qatar Sport Investments, whose Qatar Foundation is Barcelona’s shirt sponsor.
The game will be played on a Wednesday, three days after the home match against Villarreal in La Liga, with a trip to Athletic Bilbao to follow on February 8.
The fixture was announced during a Barcelona board meeting, which also saw the confirmation of a four-year extension to the club’s sponsorship deal with Audi.
The main purpose of the meeting was a corporate restructuring that saw club president Josep Maria Bartomeu propose that director general Antoni Rossich be replaced by managing director Ignacio Mestre as part of a wider reshuffle of Barca’s executive structure.
