Bahrain qualified for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 knockout phase after a last-minute Jamal Rashid penalty helped them seal a narrow 1-0 win over India.

Bahrain’s hard-fought victory earned them the three points they needed to qualify from Group A after their promising draw against host UAE was compromised by a shock 0-1 defeat against Thailand.

In the other group match, the UAE drew 1-1 with Thailand to end at the top with five points, followed by Bahrain with four points.

Thailand also ended their three fixtures with four points, but their heavy defeat against India cost them the second place.
