Arsenal have made an initial approach of €47 million to sign Bologna's defender Riccardo Calafiori, according to Corriere dello Sport.
However, the Italian club turned down the offer, insisting that their young star could be sold elsewhere for at least €50m.
Therefore, it appears that the Gunners are willing to match the fee needed to seal Calafiori's deal.
The 22-year-old has become one of Europe's top defenders in a short period of time.
He led Italy's backline in Euro 2024, but had to miss their Round of 16 clash against Switzerland due to suspension.
The Italians were eventually knocked out of the tournament following their 2-0 loss to the Swiss.
