With the second leg against Arsenal fast approaching, Real Madrid’s training sessions have taken an unexpected turn. Reports from Rodra, relayed by Madrid Xtra, reveal that manager Carlo Ancelotti is considering tactical adjustments that may catch many off guard.

Ceballos set for a surprising starting role

One of the most notable developments is the possible return of Dani Ceballos to the starting lineup. After recovering from injury and featuring briefly against Alaves, Ancelotti is reportedly keen on reintegrating the midfielder.

Ceballos is seen as a key to restoring control and rhythm in Madrid’s midfield—something the team has often lacked in his absence.

Unusual defensive reshuffle in training

Although Real Madrid must score at least four goals to turn around the 0-3 deficit from the first leg, Ancelotti is also tightening up his defense to avoid another collapse.

Raul Asencio was tested at right-back—a move that may raise eyebrows but isn't entirely new. Asencio has previously filled the role with solid performances.

On the opposite flank, David Alaba was used as a left-back option in training. With Ferland Mendy out due to injury, Ancelotti may rely on Alaba’s versatility and experience to keep the backline balanced.

An aggressive but calculated XI

Ancelotti reportedly tested a lineup consisting of:
Courtois; Asencio, Rüdiger, Tchouaméni, Alaba; Ceballos, Valverde, Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius, and Mbappe.

It’s a setup that leans heavily on offensive firepower, but with careful adjustments in key positions to avoid defensive vulnerabilities.

All-in or all-out for Madrid

With no room for error, Real Madrid are preparing for a high-risk, high-reward scenario. Ancelotti isn’t just banking on individual talent—he’s fine-tuning the system to give his side the best possible shot at a dramatic comeback.

Whether these tactical experiments will deliver the miracle Madrid needs remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear: Ancelotti is leaving nothing to chance.
