UAE's Al Jazira are set to offer Italian giants Roma €14 million (Dh57.8 million) for their striker Gervinho, according to reports in Italy.
The former Arsenal striker, who moved to Italy in 2013 after two years with the Gunners, has only netted two goals in 24 league games this season.
However, Italian media reported on Tuesday that the Pride of Abu Dhabi were keen to make the Ivory Coast hitman their second Serie A recruit after last summer’s swoop for Mirko Vucinic.
The Montenegrin has been a scintillating success for Eric Gerets’ men, topping the Arabian Gulf League scoring charts with 25 goals in 23 games. He has formed a lethal partnership with UAE striker Ali Mabkhout, the pair combining to help Al Jazira to a second-place finish in the AGL.
Meanwhile, Al Jazira players such as Mabkhout took time out from preparing for Thursday’s President’s Cup trip to Ajman to bring cheer to a stricken supporter.
They posed for pictures and presented a signed shirt to stroke sufferer Badr Al Ali, who is paralysed and speechless, at the Amana Healthcare hospital in Khalifa City.
The club’s president, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, has also invited Al Ali to every home game.
Mabkhout, who along with teammates such as Manuel Lanzini and Jonathan Pitroipa refused to discuss football matters, said: “It’s our pleasure to be here. Whatever is required for any patients in Amana Healthcare or anywhere else, we are happy to add value.”
