The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) 2016 Annual Awards ceremony will be held in Abu Dhabi on November 30, it was announced today.

The decision, confirmed on the AFC’s official website this morning, was approved during the AFC’s Executive Committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “Football has grown enormously in the UAE over the years and we are very pleased to hold the Annual Awards in Abu Dhabi this year.”

The ceremony is an important event for the AFC as, among other awards, it sees the best player on the continent crowned. Last year’s ceremony was held in New Delhi, India where the UAE’s Ahmad Khalil was crowned Asia's top player.

Abu Dhabi hosted the annual awards ceremony once before in 2006.
