Abtan: Iraqi Sports Will See Big Jumps This Year

Minister of Youth and Sports Abdul Hussein Abtan said the Iraqi sport will see great jumps during 2018 through the achievements made and sports facilities that will see the light soon.

Abtan said in a statement to the ministry that "2018 will see the opening of the stadiums Najaf, Kut, Kafel, Aziziyah and Babylon Hall (thousand spectators) as well as other projects, and the ministry continues its endeavor to complete the stadiums al-Zawra, Amo Baba and Habibiyah and Hall of 7,000 spectators, and by the end of these sports, the Iraqi sport and football will compete strongly at the Arab, Asian and international levels. "

He pointed out "the importance of the match between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, which will be held in the city of Basra in the twenty-eighth of February, as it will be the gate that will pave the way to the total lifting of the ban imposed on the Iraqi stadiums by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) after the ministry and the Olympic Committee and the Iraqi Football Association and sports institutions and the media made great efforts to convey the true picture of the conditions we live in.

He added: "we do not forget the role of the sports masses that were the best supporter in friendly international matches through the ideal encouragement, which contributed to take the sporting events in a beautiful image."
