It was a sight to behold when a thousand people got together dressed as Smurfs.
The crowd gathered in Landerneau, western France to break the world record for the most people dressed as Smurfs in one place. Donning blue body paint and cartoonish outfits, the group knocked the record out of the park.
The fan had to wear a white Smurf hat, white pants, and shoes, a blue t-shirt and be painted blue to be counted toward the world record. At the gathering in France people dressed as Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and other famous characters and danced to the cartoon's theme song.
Created in Belgium in 1958, the Smurfs is now worth about $8 billion. The cartoon series has been dubbed into 30 languages and is still aired on about 120 channels around the world.
