The Ancient City of Aleppo is the historic city centre of Aleppo in Syria. Before the civil war, several provinces of the ancient city remained essentially unchanged since its construction during the 12th to the 16th century.
During the war, many parts in the Al-Madina Souq and other medieval buildings in Aleppo's Old City were ruined or burnt amid fights between the Syrian Arab Army and the rebel forces of Jabhat al-Nusra, in the Battle of Aleppo.
Syrian workers have now launched new campaigns to reconstruct the old city of Aleppo after the destructive civil war in the country.
