SHARM ELSHEIKH, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- The Second Arab Economic and Social Development kicked off here on Wednesday with the aim of promoting Arab integration.
The Kuwaiti delegation to the Summit is headed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who will hand over the summit presidency to Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak.
The Summit agenda includes a number of important decisions and projects in the fields of Arab development, economic, and social related.
Sharm El-Sheikh summit also aims towards activating and implementing resolutions of the first economic summit hosted by Kuwait in January in 2009, including the implementation of H.H. the Amir's initiative to establish a fund for small and medium projects, with a capital of USD 2 billion.
The agenda also includes promoting economic and social integration, encourage inter-Arab investments, activating the role of funds and joint Arab financial institutions, developing health services, reducing unemployment and the empowerment of Arab women's role in society and the advancement of Arab youth, food security, water, transport and electricity, in addition to liberating telecommunications and information technology sectors.
The Summit will also highlight the role of the Arab League and its institutions in boosting Arab development in all fields.
