Who is Shaher Abdulhak, first Yemeni businessman in the Epstein files?

The scandals of Jeffrey Epstein, the controversial American businessman, continue to unfold, as newly published documents include Yemeni businessman Shaher Abdulhak, who was well-known as the "Sugar King" in Yemen.

According to activists, the documents revealed a lengthy exchange of messages between Shaher Abdulhak and Epstein.

Among these messages was one concerning the death of a person called "Affash", in which Epstein offered his condolences to Abdulhak, saying: "I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friend!" In response, Abdulhak answered: "What happened on December 4, 2017, was a great loss, my cousin!"

In addition, some other emails displayed a remarkable proposal by Shaher Abdulhak to Epstein, which involved converting the famous "khat" plant into liquid extracts or concentrated juices to facilitate its marketing in Europe and the U.K., where its circulation in its paper form is prohibited.

Epstein responded to this idea by promising and that he will connect him with interested parties as a gesture of "friendship," while refusing direct financial intervention.

Shaher Abdulhak died on October 2, 2020.
