ALBAWABA - A horrifying video recently sparked outrage on social media after capturing a man brutally stabbing a Ukrainian refugee named Iryna Zarutska in the neck inside a train operating in Charlotte, North Carolina.

23-year-old Iryna Zarutska fled to the US due to Ukraine's ongoing war with Russia. Zarustka boarded the Charlotte train, dressed in her pizzeria uniform, and sat in front of Decarlos Brown Jr, a 34-year-old man who looked visibly distressed in the video.

Four minutes later, the surveillance footage released by the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) captured Decarlos Brown Jr pulling out a knife from his pocket and then stabbing Zarutska three times, including once in the neck. However, panic didn't set in until other passengers on the train noticed a blood trail on the ground.

It's important to note that the incident occurred on August 22, but the surveillance footage was only recently shared on social media.

After committing the crime, the 34-year-old man was captured exiting the train as other passengers rushed to aid Zarutska.

Local police later obtained the pocket knife and arrested brown after transferring him to a hospital due to a cut on his hand.

Brown has a criminal record with a whopping 14 arrests dating back to 2011, including incidents such as robbery while in possession of a dangerous weapon, assault, felony larceny, and many more.

Videos of the incident flooded social media as many users offered their condolences for Zarutska, while others voiced their anger about the situation.

A social media user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "She ran from war in Ukraine. She came here for safety. And America FAILED her."

Another wrote, "The murderer of Iryna Zarutska had been arrested FOURTEEN TIMES before. It’s beyond ridiculous that this monster had not yet been permanently locked up. The state is partly responsible for her death."
