ALBAWABA - An incident at Barrington Middle School recently made headlines when a Florida school teacher was allegedly fired after a viral video captured her hanging a black baby doll from its neck in her classroom, according to CBS's WTSP-TV.

Reports indicate that the video was taken by a 14-year-old student at the Lithia-based middle school. The teacher was identified as 63-year-old Karen Savage, who reportedly tied the doll to a TV cable. By the time of reporting, the video posted by the student's mother had garnered over a million views on Facebook, with reposts flooding platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

The student claimed that Savage followed him when he ran off to report her to the student affairs office in an attempt to talk him over. !4-year-old Carter said, "Everybody started telling her it was wrong and racist to do that," and "then she said it was just a joke, and then she took down the doll."

Carter described the teacher's actions as "disturbing" and added, "I hope that she’s not allowed to teach again. Because she shouldn’t be allowed to teach if she does things like that."

The student's mother took to Facebook with a lengthy statement and wrote, "Look at the photo. Look at the video. When the children called out this blatant, disgusting act of hate and asked why she hung that doll by its neck, she laughed it off. Her excuse to our kids was that she did it "to get their attention."

She added, "This emotionally affected ALL the children in that classroom. My son's friends of different cultures and races were all deeply offended and disturbed by this racist act. These kids stood united, grabbed evidence, and wrote official statements today. This is NOT a classroom management tool. This is straight up hate and trauma being weaponized in front of our children in a place where they are supposed to be safe."
