Sarah McBride has won a State Senate seat in Delaware becoming the first transgender in US history to reach such a position.
McBride’s win is considered a turning point in the life of LGBTQ+ community in the country because the senator is currently working for the pro-LGBTQ Human Rights Campaign as she was always pushing Americans to accept people who are different.

Sarah had already achieved big dreams at the Democratic National Convention in 2016 when she became the first openly transgender person to speak at a major-party convention in the country.
"Four years ago, I came out as transgender, while serving as student body president in college," "At the time I was scared. I worried my dreams and my identity were mutually exclusive," the senator revealed.

Currently there are openly transgender US state legislators; namely: Virginia state Del. Danica Roem; Colorado state Rep. Brianna Titone; and New Hampshire state Reps. Lisa Bunker and Gerri Cannon.
According to Sarah McBride, 25, a former intern in the Obama White House, unfortunately large number of transgenders and LGBT people face discrimination, both in US law, and from individuals.
