ALBAWABA - The story of Neera Ashraf, the Egyptian student who was killed at the hands of her male colleague, has once again risen into the media after a new image of the girl hugging her murderer went viral.
Neera Ashraf, 21, was killed in June 2022 in front of the gate of the Faculty of Arts at Mansoura University after she refused the young man's wedding proposal.
Mohammed Adel, the attacker, arrived at Mansoura University carrying a knife and slaughtered his victim in front of all students.

Neera Ashraf hugging her killer, AI photo sparks anger
Social media users have been circulating an image created using artificial intelligence techniques depicting the late Egyptian student Neera Ashraf in a fake scene embracing her convicted killer, Mohamed Adel, who was executed.
The photo quickly circulated on several Facebook pages and groups, leading some followers to believe that there was a relationship between the victim and the perpetrator.
The AI photo sparked widespread anger among Neera's family and a wider audience, who considered the image a distortion of the girl's memory.
The Egyptian student's father, in turn, broke his silence and said, "We have sued many social media users who tried to hurt my daughter's reputation, but I cannot prosecute everyone."
He further mentioned, warning that whoever was behind the image would be punished sooner or later.
