ALBAWABA - Independent journalist Taylor Lorenz recently sparked debate on social media after an interview with CCN was clipped and shared on platforms such as Musk's X (formerly Twitter), where she described Luigi Mangione as a "revolutionary" and a "morally good man."
In detail, Lorenz said during the interview, "Here’s this man who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart — he’s a person that seems like a morally good man, which is hard to find."
The clip went viral and sparked mixed reactions from social media users, with several siding with Lorenz's comments while others weren't so keen on her controversial opinion.

An X user wrote, "You know who would disagree with the absurd assertion from Taylor Lorenz that Luigi Mangione is a 'morally good man?' Brian Thompson's wife and two kids."
Piers Morgan also wrote on X, "SORRY?!! He’s a cold-blooded f*cking killer who executed a father."
26-year-old Luigi Mangione was charged with murder on Dec. 4, 2024, on the accusation that he fatally shot UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson at the New York Hilton Midtown.
He's currently awaiting his trial after facing multiple charges, including, federal murder, stalking, and terrorism in New York. Mangione was arrested on Dec. 9, 2024, after an individual noticed him at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and called authorities on him.
Mangione managed to garner a cult-like following on social media, with many likening his actions to a "hero" and "saviour."

According to CBC, Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded on April 1 that Mangione face a death penalty for his actions. She said, "Luigi Mangione's murder of Brian Thompson — an innocent man and father of two young children — was a premeditated, cold-blooded assassination that shocked America."
She added, "After careful consideration, I have directed federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty in this case as we carry out President Trump's agenda to stop violent crime and Make America Safe Again."
