ALBAWABA - Jordan recently witnessed a hilarious event when a group of citizens were arrested in its capital city, Amman, for wearing costumes inspired by the popular Korean drama, Squid Game, reportedly as part of a promotion.

Clips of the viral incident swarmed several social media platforms as internet users questioned the reason behind the arrest. In response, a police spokesperson claimed that the group was detained because they didn't ask for a permit for the promotional event, adding further that the necessary legal actions had been taken against them.

One unique feature that sets this group apart is that their Squid Game-themed costumes come with a custom Jordanian flag printed on them.

According to Al Arabiya, a Jordanian journalist who claims to be close to the individuals' families, said that the group that goes by the name "Squid Jo" had no ill intentions towards anyone, but instead wore the Squid Game-themed outfits for entertainment purposes only, due to the global recognition and success Netflix's Korean drama among the youth, including Jordan.

The journalist added that the group might've been reportedly arrested due to false accusations made against them by unconfirmed individuals, which urged local police to take legal action.

Squid Game's red zip-up onesies and masks became iconic and a huge part of what makes the Korean drama so successful and special. Since the show's release in 2021, countless people across the globe have worn the outfit during Halloween parties, promotional content, and funny clips.
