How Did Osama bin Laden Show up Among Leed's Football Crowds?

As English football clubs resume matches post a three-month halt following the Coronavirus outbreak, football fans watching games from their homes spotted a familiar, not so popular face among the crowds.

Not allowing Leeds fans to attend the game in the Elland Road stadium ,in efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, the club organizers resorted to using cardboard cutouts to make it look like crowds are still there for their favorite football clubs.

Yet, Leeds fans couldn't help but notice Osama bin Laden's face among their cardboard crowd set to watch Saturday's game against Fulham FC, urging them to question the reason why the face of the world's once most dangerous terrorist was used to "cheer for Leeds United."

Making up for fans' absence from stadiums, football clubs have been encouraging their supporters to send in their pictures so it can be printed and attached to seats for £25, which is how Bin Laden's photo must have made it to the audience, maybe as a joke and maybe as a statement.

According to BBC, officials in Leeds have removed the photo and pledged for "no more offensive photos from now on."

Commenting on the incident, online people took the chance to make several jokes about Al Qaeda's former leader "presence at the game, especially as some found out that he was a fan of Arsenal's FC.

Saudi-born Bin Laden had founded Al-Qaeda in 1988 and was killed in a US airstrike that targeted him in Abbottabad, Pakistan in May 2011.
