Funny faces, tourism vibes: Musk steals the light from Trump in China

ALBAWABA - American businessman Elon Musk joined President Donald Trump on Wednesday for an official trip to China's Beijing to meet President Xi Jinping. Since the moment of arrival, the SpaceX CEO stole all the lights from the two presidents.

Musk was seen enjoying China as if he were on a vacation, not an official 2-day trip. A video was posted online showing Musk taking memories using his phone while spinning around at the Great Hall of the People in the capital, Beijing.

In another clip and during a state banquet for U.S. President Donald Trump and China's President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People, on May 14, 2026, Tesla CEO was spotted making funny faces while taking a photo with Apple CEO Tim Cook.

A person wrote on X, "LMFAO!! Look at the faces Elon Musk is making right now while taking photos with Apple CEO Tim Cook at the Chinese State Banquet. Elon is a GEM, our favorite autistic billionaire."

Another commented, "He's creating for us another timeless internet meme."

A clip of Elon Musk with his son X during his visit to Beijing, China, also grabbed much attention on social media.

President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on May 13 for a scheduled meeting with his counterpart.

During his two-day visit, Trump, accompanied by top US officials and business leaders, will be holding talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

This visit will focus on trade, technology, and Taiwan, in addition to the tensions in the Middle East and the war with Iran.

China's Vice-President Han Zheng was at the tarmac to receive Trump as he walked down the steps from Air Force One.
