ALBAWABA - Rumors flood social media following the latest orders by U.S. President Donald Trump to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to leave the country with his family.
Trump gave Maduro a strongly worded ultimatum as tensions flared between Washington and the South American nation. He warned him to "resign and leave or else", the New York Post reported.
The U.S. President announced the closure of airspace around Venezuela. It is worth mentioning that America's largest warship, the USS Gerald F. Ford and a Marine Expeditionary Unit are floating near the South American country.
Trump also warned that a military operation could start very soon, an announcement that was taken as a clear escalation and a warning of a possible war.
Did Maduro secretly leave Venezuela for Iran?
Since Trump's announcement about the phone call with Maduro, speculations emerged online asking whether the Venezuelan President is still in the country or if he left, taking Trump's warning seriously.
Some activists claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro left the country for Iran, while others said that he has good relations also with Russia, China and most of Central America.
A person wrote on X: "Update: Did He Surrender?!? Venezuelan Dictator Maduro is reported to be preparing to step down and fleeing to Tehran, Iran, under an agreement with President Trump," claiming that this info was made by "Brazilian CNN!"
However, these allegations are false as President Maduro posted on his official Facebook account a video showing how great the Venezuelan people are.
He wrote, "In Venezuela, there is a true National Power: the power of a Homeland, a Republic and a Revolution. Let's continue to study his construction from every sector, because it should never be anchored to one man alone. It is and will be a People! This is an indispensable historical project and destined for Victory always!"
