ALBAWABA - A shocking video recently flooded social media when it captured Russians reportedly voluntarily climbing into coffins as a form of therapy for depression.

The new trend is called "coffin therapy" and first emerged in the city of Tolyatti. According to online reports, it's made for participants who feel "stuck in a rut," as the creators claimed that the trend can help reduce anxiety and produce motivation to move forward by rethinking life.

According to a video translated by Nexta on X (formerly Twitter), the creator said he created "coffin therapy" for those who didn't feel like a psychologist helped them. He said in the clip, "If a psychologist doesn't help you, you're tired of life, and tormented by hopelessness... Call us. We have a new service, Coffin therapy.

The video then panned to a person getting put inside a coffin and buried alive. The new trend sparked widespread speculation and debate among social media users:

"I know Russian people. I learned Russian in the Army. I know the culture. There used to be a lot of superstition about gravesites and graves. A lot of knocking on wood. Could never imagine they'd be doing these kinds of things."

"They pay for it before or after? Because if you pay everything upfront... I mean... there is a risk."

"You couldn't pay me enough money to bury me alive. F*ck that."
