ALBAWABA - Zeynab Javadli, the former wife of a UAE royal, was released on bail after being held on accusations by her ex-husband that she abducted their three children, the Dubai Media Office announced.

"Dubai Public Prosecution confirms that Ms. Zeynab Javadli has been released on bail following questioning," the Dubai Media Office announced in a statement on Saturday.

Zeynab Javadli, who divorced Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2019, was arrested after her ex-husband accused her of abducting their three children.

The Azerbaijani gymnast was detained by Emirati authorities and questioned over "an ongoing investigation into allegations that she abducted her children and refused to return them to their father, who was granted custody".

AFP reported that the ex-wife of the UAE royal shared a series of Instagram posts in early 2025, asking for help and accusing Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum of taking away her daughters.

On Friday, UAE prosecutors announced that Zeynab Javadli was in custody over a complaint filed by her ex-husband, alleging the kidnapping during a court-approved visitation session.

Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the nephew of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
