AlBawaba - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Tuesday that he will travel to Turkey on Wednesday to discuss negotiations aimed at ending the war with Russia.
In a post on X, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is preparing to intensify talks focused on bringing the conflict — ongoing since 2012 — to an end.
“There will be talks in Turkey,” he stated. “We are preparing to intensify negotiations and working on solutions we will present to our allies.”
He stressed that Ukraine’s main priority is to accelerate every possible effort to end the war, noting ongoing work to restart prisoner exchanges between Kyiv and Moscow.

Zelenskyy also said he would meet Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Spain on Tuesday, expressing hope that the talks would lead to new agreements strengthening Ukraine’s position.
Istanbul previously hosted several rounds of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine in May, June, and July 2025, which led to deals securing the release of thousands of prisoners on both sides.
Last week, Russia’s TASS news agency quoted Foreign Ministry official Alexei Polischuk saying Moscow is ready to resume peace negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul.
