ALBAWABA - Two years into Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Ukrainian President Valdimir Zelensky addressed the conflict at a press conference in Kiev, the country's capital.
"In this war, 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed," Zelensky stated. No, not 150 000, nor 300 000. But we still feel a tremendous loss from it."
Criticizing Russia's disproportionately high losses to Ukraine in the conflict, Zelesnkiy declared he would not be able to reveal the number of soldiers injured in the fighting since doing so would benefit Russia. Zelensky added that tens of thousands of citizens have perished in his country's seized regions.
Advisor to the Office of the Ukrainian Presidency Mihail Podolyak stated in December 2022 that 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers had died since the start of the conflict; he has not since made any more remarks.
