UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Monday met Yasser Abed Rabbo, the Palestinian Minister of Information and Culture, and viewed with him the current situation in Palestine in the wake of the US mediators who will try to eliminate the tension between the Palestinians and Israelis.
The visiting minister conveyed a message to Sheikh Zayed from Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Emirates’ official news agency (WAM) reported.
Arafat briefed Sheikh Zayed on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories in the light of the Israeli escalation of violence and the latest US efforts on Middle East peace.
Arafat’s message comes as a part of consultation with Arab leaders on the best methods to deal with a new US peace mission “to protect the peace process.”
Arafat told reporters during his visit to Amman Monday "we had consultations” in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other Arab countries on how to deal with the US envoys.
"These consultations are very important for us because they offer us important and fundamental ideas," Arafat was quoted by AFP as saying.
He reiterated his full support for US efforts to revive the moribund peace talks with Israel – Albawaba.com
