The death toll from a landslide that devastated the Yemeni village of al-Dhafeer village, west of Sana'a, last week has risen to 54, AFP reported Sunday. Since Saturday rescue teams have found one body. All in all, 28 female and 26 males died in the disaster.
Yemeni source said at least 17 people were still under the trap. According to Saba news agency, the number of people trapped due to the landslide was put at 70.
Local sources said a house of six floors collapsed and trapped some 20 persons. They added that some families left their houses out of fears of more landslides.
