Two al-Qaeda militants were killed in an American drone strike in central Yemen on Monday, AFP reported.
The attack took place in the Khobza area of the central province of Baida, the agency quoted an unnamed official as saying.
Yemen's defense ministry reported that "two members of Al-Qaeda as they as they left a farm on a motorbike" and named the two men as Abd Rabbo Mokbal Mohammed Jarallah al-Zouba and Abbad Mossad Abbad Khobzi.
The attack comes after a similar strike was carried out by an American drone on Saturday in southern Yemen, killing four al-Qaeda suspects.
After being driven out of Al-Qaeda strong holds in the Zinjibar, Jaar and Shuqra areas in Abyan last year, members of the terror group have fled to surrounding mountainous areas including the Almahfd district.
According to a report issued by the Yemeni Hood Organization for Defending Rights and Freedoms, there were 81 American-backed drone strikes in 2012.
The use of drones have been criticized both domestically and internationally by human rights activists who condemn civilian deaths caused by drones and say the strikes are a violation of Yemeni sovereignty.
