An Interior Ministry source in Yemen denied Friday a report published by the London-based Asharq al-Awsat daily, quoting an unnamed American source as accusing Yemen of double-standard counts about cooperation in fighting terror.

The source said the accusations published in the newspapers "are baseless. It is an overt leakage". "The accusations against Yemen by the alleged American source is a malicious attempt to spoil the growing relationships and cooperation between Yemen and the United States on the one hand and Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the other."

The source told SABA that "only the Zionist Lobby gains from such media leakage."

The paper had quoted a so-called U.S. official source as casting doubt on an official statement about the arrest of suspected "terrorists." Yemen has recently announced the capture of senior al-Qaeda activist Mohammed Hamdi Al-Ahdal.
