Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh said Tuesday the country's security forces were being sent to special security zones in three northeastern provinces.

Saleh was confirming the establishment of three "security zones in the provinces of Maareb, Shabwa and Al-Jawf" that had previously been reported to exist in The September 26 news weekly.

"Security forces would be installed there to be ready for all scenarios," Saleh said, speaking to reporters at a graduation ceremony for police officers.

Last week, President Ali Abdullah Saleh also decided to create a National Security Agency to combat terrorism and espionage, and support the work of the intelligence services. (Albawaba.com)
