Women have been allowed to become taxi drivers in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE, reported Gulf News Friday.
The decision will be effective as of the first of September, it said, quoting officials.
A national and three other Arab women have already been licensed by Ras Al Khaimah Police to work as taxi drivers.
However, a police officer told the paper that taxis driven by women will not be allowed to transport men. Only children below the age of 15 will be allowed to accompany their mothers – Albawaba.com
