With Saturday’s maximum winter temperature in Dubai dropping to 29 degrees, the winter season has started in the emirate, Khaleej Times reported Sunday.

"With the combination of northerly winds coming from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the temperature for next week is going to be well below or up to 30 degrees," Clive Stevens at the Dubai Met office was quoted by the Dubai-based paper as saying.

"The cold winds originating from Russia means that we are already into winter," said the weatherman. "Though the mercury will fluctuate, the overall pattern of change is going to stay.

He said, it is not easy to predict rain in the country like “everywhere else in the world,” but “we saw temperature dropping to just 2 degrees in Kuwait on November 21 and that is something amazing.

"Like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia is also going through some unusual patterns of weather with strong north winds from Siberia. The change was so sudden in the region that on November 18, the maximum temperature was 28 degrees which dropped to just 16 degrees the next day," Stevens told the daily.

"I don't see a sudden change that coming to the UAE because of the warmer effect of the sea between Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.”

According to him, Dubai is going to experience an overall drop of four-five degrees in the coming days that will take the people of the emirate into the colder part of the year – Albawaba.com
