The World Bank said Sunday it could extend up to $450 million in loans to Jordan by 2003 in support of development and economic projects, reported the Jordan Times.

Joseph Saba, director of the bank's Middle East and North Africa operations, said on Sunday that the WB had agreed to allocate $300 million to finance the Public Reform Project — $120 million of which was disbursed this year — while the remainder would be paid over the next two years.

However, he told the paper that the WB loans could reach $450 million by 2003, if new projects were agreed on with the bank.

Planning Minister Jawad Hadid told the press that the kingdom needed $100 million next year and $80 million in 2003 to complete the Public Reform Project – Albawaba.com
