On Thursday, Washington renewed its warning to American citizens against traveling to the Middle East region, citing the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians and increased fears of terrorist attacks, according to AFP

"In light of ongoing tensions in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza over the past year and a half, the Department of State continues to be concerned about the potential for further clashes, demonstrations and violent responses in the region and elsewhere," the department said in a statement.

"The Department of State has unconfirmed reports that American citizens may be targeted for kidnapping or other terrorist actions," it added, noting the abduction last month in Pakistan of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

The department did not mention an alert for possible anti-American attacks throughout the United States or Yemen that was released on Monday by the FBI. (Albawaba.com)
