According to BNA, an official in the American foreign ministry said that Washington is analyzing the Lebanese ministerial statement which ignored mentioning 1559 International resolution.
Sawa Radio quoted the US official as saying that the US secretary of state, Condaleezza Rice stressed in her visit to Beirut last week the importance of the full implementation of resolution 1559, adding that the Lebanese officials affirmed to her their commitment to execute the resolution. The official noted that Rice reiterated Washington's support to the ongoing political process aimed at implementing resolution No. 1559.
