SANYO will release the VPC-CG6, a slim light-weight digital movie camera that offers movie and still photography capabilities in a single product. The pocket-sized Xacti VPC-CG6 features a new "blur correction with gyro sensor” system for correcting unintentional camera shake during shooting and supersensitive technologies that enable recording clearly defined movies and stills even under poor illumination conditions. With the VPC-CG6, you can take photos and record movies almost anytime and anywhere. It will be available in the Middle East region from SANYO, the world’s leading manufacturer of digital cameras and components, in November 2006.

Now with the release of the VPC-CG6, which offers more computer-friendly features while maintaining the concept of a pocket-sized digital movie camera, you can take pictures and record movies anytime, anywhere.

II. Main Features

1. A new "blur-resistant" system minimizes camera shake

The VPC-CG6 incorporates a new "blur correction with gyro sensor" system utilizing the most advanced digital processing technologies. A built-in gyro sensor detects the direction and amount of camera shake during photo-taking and, based on that data, a digital filter cancels the camera shake component of the captured image. This system has realized a blur -resistant camera without sacrificing its stylish slim and light design. Because the VPC-CG6 also offers conventional digital image stabilizer for movie recording, you can both take photos and record movies without worrying about camera shake.

2. Clearly defined movies even by candlelight

The VPC-CG6 contains a 6.0 megapixel CCD and a 5X optical zoom lens in its slim body. This enables more supersensitive movie recording than the highly appreciated VPC-C6 and realizes a minimum subject illumination of 2 lux^*3. In addition to advanced sensitive digital processing technologies, the VPC-CG6 offers an automatic frame-rate adjustment capability in a new Lamp mode for movie recording in low-light situations. As a result, you can even record clearly defined movies at a birthday party with only the candlelight from the cake.

3. A versatile digital movie camera for recording, viewing, and listening

The VPC-CG6 has a big 2.5-inch LCD panel, on which the user can compose and frame the subject during shooting and then review the footage. The panel, bright amorphous silicon (low-reflective) with a high resolution of about 110,000 pixels, is highly visible even outdoors on a sunny day.

The monitor unit swings about 290 degrees to allow unrestricted shooting styles such as high/low-angle and self-shots. An AV terminal on the camera body front provides connectivity to commercial headphones, so you can enjoy your movies with high-quality stereo sound.

Also, the VPC-CG6 is SDHC-compatible, which means that you can record a movie for up to four hours^*2 on a 4 GB SDHC memory card.
