ALBAWABA - San Francisco was hit by a major power outage on Saturday, leaving 130,000 people without electricity, the utility provider and the mayor said.
People were asked not to leave their houses as a huge area of the West Coast tech hub was plunged into darkness.
The electricity outage caused disruptions to public transport as well, with many traffic lights going off.
"We are working with first responders and city officials on an outage in San Francisco affecting approximately 130,000 customers," Pacific Gas & Electric Company, the city's main power provider, posted on X.
"We do expect restorations later this evening," a spokeswoman for the company mentioned after saying that workers are trying their best to fix the problem.
"But we've got rain coming, it's night time. If you don't need to go out, stay home and I'll keep you posted," Mayor Daniel Lurie said at the city's emergency operations center in a video posted on X.
