ALBAWABA - The al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, announced on Tuesday that they had fired two "M90" missiles targeting Tel Aviv and its surrounding areas. This attack, according to the group, was in response to what they termed as "Zionist massacres and the deliberate displacement of our people."

A senior official within the al-Qassam Brigades informed Al Jazeera that the missiles were launched from a location where Israeli military vehicles were present.

Israeli Channel 13 reported sounds of explosions in Tel Aviv, with initial assessments suggesting that the missiles may have been fired from the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military confirmed that one missile, launched from southern Gaza, landed in the sea off Tel Aviv's coast, while another failed to reach Israeli territory. Israeli Army Radio remarked that this was the first missile launch towards Tel Aviv since May.

The rockets were reportedly launched from the Bani Suhaila area in Khan Younis, roughly 1.5 kilometers from where the 98th Division is stationed.

On Saturday morning, the Israeli military carried out a deadly attack on the Al-Tabeen School in Gaza, which was housing displaced civilians. The strike resulted in over 100 deaths and numerous injuries.

The Israeli military later admitted to targeting the school, claiming that Hamas had been using the facility as a command center for planning various "terrorist activities against Israeli forces and Israel."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been conducting an intense military campaign in Gaza, with support from the United States. The conflict has caused over 131,000 Palestinian casualties, including a significant number of women and children, and left more than 10,000 people missing. The ongoing war has also led to widespread destruction and severe famine.

Despite international calls for peace, including a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire and an order from the International Court of Justice to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Tel Aviv continues its military operations.
