The Islamic Republic of Iran remains fully committed to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) even as it objects to the deadline given to Tehran to prove it is not developing nuclear weapons, Iranian Vice President and Atomic Energy Agency Chief Gholamreza Aghazadeh was quoted by IRIB news network as saying on Monday.

"Iran is fully committed to its NPT responsibilities, not only because of its contractual obligation but also because of its religious and ethical considerations," Aghazadeh explained.

On Friday, the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) governing board passed a resolution setting Iran an October 31 deadline to prove it had no secret atomic weapons program. (Albawaba.com)
