The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, launched the HONORS PROGRAM on Sunday September 11, 2005. The Honors Program at VCUQ provides academically talented students looking for new challenges and opportunities to graduate with University Honors, by meeting the challenging curriculum requirement. All Honors courses are noted on the student’s official transcript. Students completing 18 credit hours with a 3.5 or higher GPA, and a dossier will be able to obtain the degree distinction “Graduate with Honors”
VCUQ honors students will join a program that involves 1,500 students at the Richmond Campus in the United States. They will have access to the resources and opportunities available at one of the America’s leading research universities. Students will be able to explore the honors courses with others expressing similar intellectual curiosity.
An honors education provides a solid foundation for success by allowing students to build on their strengths and expand their creative and intellectual horizons while pursuing a distinctive academic program. Through the University Honors Program, students can participate in an exciting and innovative exploration of the world as well as their talents while enjoying innovative classes, one-on-one advising, access to top quality faculty and the unique opportunities that VCUQ has to offer.
The VCUQ honors program meets the 18 hours of honors classes/modules required by the program at VCU’s main campus in the United States. It consists of a mix of honors classes general education and within the majors. The VCU campus in Richmond, Virginia, will assist the VCUQ program by increasing access to on-line versions of honors modules.
This semester VCUQ will offer Design Fundamentals, Survey of World Art and Islamic Art History with honors components. Upcoming courses with Honors components include Literature, Writing for the Workplace, History of Visual Communication, and Interior Design Studios..
